Never has this icon been so apropos.

I want to spare you my feelings being spewed all over Twitter; there are funnier, more insightful or original liveTweeters/bloggers out there writing about this (and I am going to read them right now! First stop: Janice Poon. Next stop: [personal profile] cleolinda's Storify.)

But if you want to know what I was yelling during the episode, by all means read on! )

In conclusion, Hannibal is as beautiful and batshit as ever and I am there for all of it 100%. Can't wait.

So I was really excited when I heard that the creator of my very favourite show was doing a show about my very favourite serial killer, and between a very close friend and the whole of Tumblr, I got the idea I really needed to watch Hannibal.

Hannibal is not a show for the squeamish, especially if you have a lot of empathy. I am finding it very hard to watch but somehow still delightful, and have developed several coping mechanisms. One is eating terrible food while watching (crispy corned beef? ice cream with barquillos? Chester's Puffcorn?). A more recent one is drawing.

brush pen sketches! )

Note: I've only seen up to episode 1 of season 2, so no spoilers in the comments please, although teasers are acceptable because if there's anything I learned from this show, it's that emotionally torturing your friends is fun.

aka THE JOHN WATSON ADVENTURE

with a brief detour for HELLO THERE SUPER HOT ASIAN CORPORAL, and perhaps because Mark Gatiss was writing it he was way more obviously hot than obviously Asian. Still though. WOOF.

*is killed for pun*

But OMG this episode. I guess the fandom can pretty much run to Godtiss for the wonderful delightful lakjfn;wejfn;jnf;dksbjf fan-pandering, eh? Phew. Also, just like in Being Human, I pretty much want to hug Russell Tovey non-stop. I CUDDLE J00 BB, it'll be ok.

Last few seconds of episode: FUCKING CHRIST NO *CLAWS FACE*

I've done some Lestrade ones to post next. I love Lestrade in this incarnation. I bet he reads Sir Terry Pratchett's Captain Vimes books, especially Feet of Clay. 'The scream in the night was most likely a man getting out of bed and stepping sharply on an upturned hairbrush.' Hee.

ps. I need to do some Sherlock icons...

It's really true that you only pick things up when you're ready for them. I used to think reading choices explained something about the kind of person I am, but if there's something to be deduced from my reading patterns I'm not sure I want to know.

I've never thought of myself as a mystery fan in the same way I think of myself as an sf/fantasy fan. I have a mainstay 'comfort list' (Doyle, Christie, Poe) and of course there are my favourite mysteries muddled with other genres (Pratchett's Night Watch, Adams's Dirk Gently) and all the crime shows I can't seem to stop watching on TV no matter how ridiculous or predictable they become. But I never thought of myself as a mystery reader.

brief thoughts on Lord Peter, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and BBC Sherlock. Well...not that brief. )
