What's the name of that toasted bread-type Asian snack with the yummy paste in the middle? I think there's a similar cartoon character that [livejournal.com profile] angelthorn showed me once. The Korean store near my work is selling them 3 for a pound, and I may be growing addicted...

I am going to staff this event from Wednesday! AND I have been allowed to go in COSTUME!!! :D Unfortunately the best events aren't free even to staff, so am paying for things like the premieres and the all-nighter.

I also have a non-fannish reason to go this time )

Edit, 2 days later: ANIME ALL NIGHTER IS FREE. And my friend Donna is coming with me. OMIGOD OMIGOD SOOOOOOO EXCITED \o/

Sorry, can't think of a quote right now. =_= Have now been up for...oh, only 24 hours. Actually that's not so terrible.

Anyway, the animations are done! I still haven't learned to embed Quicktime, but here are some more screencaps.

God, I need so much more practice with this animation thing than I have time for. I don't know how to script this, much less do a storyboard. My framing is bollocks, the timing is 3 frames a second, viewers can't tell which character is which, and I have an overwhelming urge to junk my whole life and watch my new Gilmore Girls Season 2 box set.

That being said, the "emblems" conversation is done. Now I only have to get Marco Polo and Kublai Khan to play Marco Polo through badly lit pictures of my paintings. Calvino would have stabbed me in the eye with his pen.

"I may write disturbing stuff, but really I have the heart of a small boy... I keep it in a jar on my desk." --Robert Bloch

Oscars last night. Watching the Oscars is like eating candy floss--lots of fun, but by the time you get to the end you're sick of it. Also, I wonder if the Academy only watch ten movies every year. Jon Stuart was brilliant though.

Made the puppet heads for the Invisible Cities project! Posting a few of my favourites:

Hmm, I wonder if I could make icons out of a couple of these...

The pesky boy cravings seem to have returned. Will take a page out of Christian Bale's book and channel them into a more profitable use of energy. For example, sculpture! Or I should say modelling.

Puppet pieces )

These fits of moroseness have been coming more often lately; I blame my rl friends (so convenient :P) Jamie just got back together with Tom, Jen [livejournal.com profile] aeonfluxus and Harold are now engaged (actually they announced it over a month ago; I just forgot to post about it), Courtney's moved in with Aaron...oh, I'm just being stupid.

Bed. Tomorrow I can scan puppet heads! ♥

Better today, enough to bake some work in Sculpey for Illustration and write 300 words of thesis. Not much, considering I should have been well three days ago. But every time I felt well enough to go to school, I always came back home with a fever. I've lost an entire bloody week of work, not counting housework and normal errands &c. Still, slept most of today and actually felt like eating something besides crackers, oatmeal and tea.

Apparently I'm not alone--every time I went to school there was someone blowing their nose, or coughing, or hoarse, or not in school at all. Nobody's having a very good winter. Some classmates and I agreed that we wished we could just spend the entire term in the bathtub.

Will be more cheerful and productive soon, promise. In fact I managed to get some character designs down for a cathartic comic I'd discussed with [livejournal.com profile] bex_x3d the other day. Scans to follow.

Visited [livejournal.com profile] bex_x3d yesterday and had a lovely time. Found out that I can actually take one bus straight to and from her place if I don't mind walking a few extra minutes. Workovers, here we come! :D

Well, back to work.

Saw Dena outside Camden Town Tube station tonight--stroke of luck! She invited me to Synthetic Culture next week. Yay for Goth gathering and Jamaican chicken ♥

Invisible Cities project is a go (good grief that sounds so silly, but I'm too sleepy to think of anything better). Scans to follow over the term.

yay!

[livejournal.com profile] petronia's card arrived this morning! ♥

Done with Graphic Design 2!

I did some posters on MTV and the mass-produced musical artist. My idea was to do stereotypes of the music industry as kids' fashion dolls. I needed someone to dress up and let me take pics of them, but couldn't find anyone. My teacher suggested I do it myself. XD

I am doing Senior Thesis this term. *gasp, flail, panic* Eeee, I can FINALLY get membership to the British Library!!!

Just redid the private projects and school projects pages for my website. They now have navigation bars, although those are in a state as I had a devil of a time putting them in; Dreamweaver doesn't seem to want to move them around. Bloody complicated program; I should just go back to coding it by hand.

In other news, besides showing Swan Lake, this November Sadler's Wells will be hosting....the Edward Scissorhands Ballet.

Ack, November looks so interesting I'll barely have any time for school.

Oh God, my room is a MESS. *mucks out stables*

Handed in my animation yesterday. Didn't have time to finish it, but at least did a complete story. The last two scenes need a lot of rounding out, but this is the thing: my teacher really liked it! He said I should go on and do the whole minute as a personal project.

For those of you who want to see it, the Quicktime movie is here. Comments optional, but much appreciated.

Next projects: more Companions, more website pages, and the presents for Terry Pratchett (visiting this October) and Himself's visit in November! Well, was planning to revisit the National Gallery anyway, so can pick the books up there. Also want to make something for [livejournal.com profile] petronia who I'm meeting this weekend! *horrendously excited*

My Illustration teacher let me use Companions as a main project!!! No more sneaking around, yess. My Animation teacher however says I need to "get my skates on" as term is already half over. He's the one I most want to impress, so I will.

Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.

omg companions in COLOR! as an actual COMIC! omgomgomg.
