perevisionIt is really upsetting me that there is no word for "merboy". I thought "merrow" would be perfect, but apparently it's only used for mermaids, i.e. female merpeople. And also, what the hell is this business about mermaids being beautiful women with arbitrary fishtails who can turn into humans at will, whereas mermen are disgusting fishy creatures who are violent and ugly and stayed in the sea? Just goes to show who was doing the writing. God, I hate it when people disguise misogynistic pornographic fantasies as folklore.
That's it. I am appropriating the word "merrow" for "merboy". I shall reject conventional reality and proper etymology, as much as it grates to do so, in favor of artistic necessity. If anyone has alternate suggestions I'd be happy to accept them, but I am left with no choice.
