Pompeii pics done!

Uploaded the rest of my Pompeii gallery. Only now do I realise--did I not take pictures of the Faun??? *beats head against wall* Gods, the heat must have addled my brains. T_T Anyway, enjoy. Next, part 2 of the fan essay.

I think what struck me the most was.. well, how the actual size of Priapus weighing himself. Not the size of that, but the size of the fresco in general. I guess I'm used to seeing him blown up 10-30 ft. on a giant screen. :b Good to keep these things in mind.

So if you went in June, I guess that was before they started serving "authentic" Pompeii meals? Or did you get to catch a bite after all?

What's an "authentic" Pompeii meal? They just had a cafe next to the shop that served standard stuff: chicken, pasta, potatoes etc. They also had a balloon, but I didn't know about THAT till we were already up there, more's the pity.

Yeah, Priapus is TINY! Conversely...XD

Well, they dug up some old recipe books a while back and last year they actually tried them out and started feeding them to tourists. I don't remember it very well, only that the ingredients seemed very... different. They used a much wider variety of veggies and nuts that aren't mass farmed, which sorta made me go o_O;;

Wow, that sounds interesting. Authentic Roman dishes! Maybe they're a bit like the Greek ones: stuffed vine leaves, etc. I didn't go to New Pompeii though; we just had a set lunch that came with the tour, so maybe the "authentic" meals are in restaurants in the outer city.
