It's nearly 5.30am and I am only beginning to be sleepy. Today I woke up at 4pm. This is the most dramatically jetlagged I have been for years. The past few trips I didn't even need a day to catch up, so it was a shock.
So here is something productive to do with my time...
THINGS...
...I SAW:
The Grand Canyon
The NY Museum of Modern Art
The Getty Museum in LA
Coffeepot Rock (it looks more like a chicken, but ok)
a Modern Gothic chapel built on Arizona red rock
Californian condors
tons of ravens
elk
hawks
A BISON!
more stars than I've ever seen even in Wales or the Philippines
the war tentacles of a sea anemone
my very posh uncle digging in the rain, in Prada wellies
...I DID:
Went to above places
took tons of pictures with other people's cameras
baked wheat- and dairy-free cookies
made granola
ate vegetarian for nearly 2 weeks straight
ate at a Sizzler (buffet dining is wasted on me, but my the boys were cute)
introduced a recent close friend to someone I knew since she was two
...I BOUGHT:
Some clothes
Many books
A couple of magazines
The most 70's-looking Tarot cards you ever did see
rubber stamps and inkpads
brush pens
fold-and-mail stationery
...I READ:
Fast Food Nation
Stranger in a Strange Land
Passager
The Mysterious Benedict Society
Vanity Fair Green Issue #2 (the one with Leo, and falconry)
Marco Polo: A Photographer's Journey
The Last Days of Summer

prickly pear ice cream
pickled sakura
Turtle bars (chocolate, caramel and nuts)
blue and purple Peeps
Ezekiel bread (wheat- and gluten-free)
French toast by a private French chef
my own cookies and granola
Veggie Booty

I think that's it. It's definitely past sunrise, though not full day yet. I really must try to sleep.
