amusing myself on time I don't really have...
Our dear Himself uncommonly tetchy today, but with good reason...
It's been twenty years, and newspaper headlines still oscillate between "Wham! Bam ! Pow! Comics Have Grown Up!" and "OH MY GAAAD THIS COMIC NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN HAS CONTENT NOT INTENDED FOR CHILDREN IN IT!" articles. Bizarre.
Both acerbic and true, and so, so Neil. (And also, exercisings! Oh, teh hott. I should NOT be lusting after a man old enough to be my father.)
In other news, another meme!
I actually saw Andrael's post on the day she made it, and it has taken me THAT LONG to come up with one of the things because frankly that doll maker thing EATS YOUR LIFE. Plus I had to keep tearing myself away from it to do things like eat and sleep and work on rather crucial schoolwork.
So!
1. Go to the Elouai doll maker.
2. Make an ordinary doll of yourself and save it.
3. Take that doll and, leaving a couple things (nose, eyebrows, whatever) the same, Mary Sue yourself. Make the most blatant Mary Sue you can conceive.
4. Post "Before" and "After" in your LJ. Bonus points if your Sue has a backstory of some kind.
Before:

I'm rather disappointed that the dolls don't have different skin colors and body types. Either that or I just didn't find the option. So yes, this is me except I'm a bit darker, and not so skinny. Also my hair's a few inches shorter and nearly black.
After:

Sapphire Emmaline Wayne-Luthor was the grand-niece of Bruce Wayne. Her great-grandmother and Thomas Wayne had divorced, before he met Martha Wayne and made his fortune. Their family was supported by a lavish patrimony check on the condition that they never challenged the Wayne heirs proper.
When Sapphire was 14 she was attacked by a Two-Face copycat but rescued by Terry McGinnis (the new Batman) before she could be killed. Missing one eye, one leg and one arm, she had to be fitted with cybernetic body parts. During the operation lightning struck the building--when the smoke cleared, she was gone.
She turned up in a Luthorcorp lab in Metropolis: the lightning had endowed her with the ability to meld with anything electronic or mechanical and control it for her own purposes. On waking, she immediately took over the entire lab and broke out, freeing the other experiments--including a 16-year-old clone of Lex Luthor, which was being primed to take over the empire when it had matured. They ran away to travel the world. With Sapphire able to control any computer in the world, Lex quickly took control of his entire fortune. But Sapphire's kindness and guidance had won his heart, and he became the leader of an underground crime-fighting organisation in Gotham called the Banksy Rats. Several previously solo crime-fighters joined, and even some former gang members were brought to see the light. Terry's friend Max also joined this organisation, and quickly rose in its ranks.
Unfortunately, the cloning experiment had not been perfected, and Lex found out that his body was deteriorating at an advanced rate. Unwilling to face his decay he took his own life when he turned 19. Heartbroken, Sapphire passed the Luthor fortune and leadership of the Rats to Max, and left on her motorbike/jet cycle/minisub. She was never seen again, although a visiting delegation of Green Lanterns told of seeing her small vehicle vanishing through a quantum singularity in the region of Alpha Sagittarius, or Rukbat.
